Waves roll in, waves roll out.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
Her wild wandering mind is awake,
She takes her dip in Marine Lake.
The nonsense washes off her skin,
Letting go of constantly needing to win.
Straightening the creases in her mind.
Her thoughts become more aligned
Her eyes closed, body weightless in the sea salt.
She sees perhaps it wasn’t all her fault.
Silencing the noise, her head cocooned under water
Cooling her down, this moment taught her.
Lying on her back, to a sky of changing clouds, she floats,
Anchoring her, like a RNLI Lifeboat.
The water reminds her of her mind’s fluidity
For her moments of vulnerability.
The daily tide gives her predictability
For soothing her instability.
She sees heads pierce through the still glass water towards the setting sun.
Encased in the negative ions, she realises the water belongs to no one.
As she exits the lake, she’s learnt that when your thoughts are at war.
To allow the emotions to come and go like waves on the shore.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
Waves roll in, waves roll out.
I really appreciate having Marine Lake to swim in so close to my home, so I wrote a poem for the Poetry Slam which takes place at @ Loves in my gratitude of what the Mudlarks have achieved for people to enjoy in WsM. Long may it continue.
Amazing Fee, very inspirational x
