Marine Lake Plans Spring forward

The council’s plans to invest £300k in Weston’s Marine Lake have taken an important step forward.
Our Mudlarks community support letter has gone with the Council’s application for a licence to allow us to move the silt from the Lake back into the sea. When complete the Lake can be brought back into use for more accessible swimming and other water sports.

We’re going to flush out most of the silt naturally, starting the week beginning Monday 19 April. Those works should last around eight weeks, depending on weather conditions. Doing this means there should be less silt for us to remove mechanically. Consequently we can spend more of the budget on refurbishing and enhancing Marine Lake’s facilities to create a hub for swimming and other leisure uses.

The lake and beach are likely to be closed during that time.
