We now have a deep water swimming channel across the width of the lake ready for us to use when the lake reopens ![]()

A big thanks to ‘Mike the digger man’ at MJV Marsh Plant Hire for doing a grand job. He finished yesterday (Tuesday 28 April).
A reminder that this has been made possible thanks to the social value commitment within North Somerset Council‘s contract with Weston-based EJ McGrath Construction Ltd for the Improving Weston project.
Thanks again to the council’s seafront team Weston Seafront for their support. They organised the necessary dredging surveys (before and after the work is carried out). The council also funded a dredging consultant to complete the required paperwork as part of the Marine Maritime Organisation (MMO) licence which has approved for silt to be removed from the lake.
We’re waiting for confirmation on when the rest of the council’s improvement project work will be completed. We’ll announce when the lake will re-open once a date has been agreed.
