Dredging News

We’re delighted to announce that some dredging will take place next week to create a deep water swimming channel across the width of the lake 🙌🏊‍♀️

This has been made possible thanks to the social value commitment within North Somerset Council‘s contract with Weston-based EJ McGrath Construction Ltd for the Improving Weston project.

Huge thanks to the council’s seafront team Weston Seafront for supporting us with this. They’ve organised the necessary dredging surveys (before and after the work is carried out).

The council has also funded a dredging consultant to complete the required paperwork as part of the Marine Maritime Organisation (MMO) licence which has approved for silt to be removed from the lake.

The work will take place from Thursday 23 April to Monday 27 April.

The work will be carried out by MJV Marsh Plant Hire, the same company used by MARLENS at Clevedon Marine Lake.

We’re waiting for confirmation on when the rest of the council’s improvement project work will be completed. We’ll announce when the lake will re-open once a date has been agreed.
